Polly Penrose´s project “A Body of Work” is both inspiring and beautifully revealing of her character. Her work contains nude portraits documenting her changing physical and emotional form over the last seven years. This ranges from marriage to pregnancy and the grieving of loved ones. Each photograph illustrates the marks life and her locations has left on her body.

“Each picture candidly portrays a moment, like marks in the calendar of my life,” she said in an interview with the Huffington Post.

It´s wonderful to be able to feel the emotions within each portrait as Penrose contorts her body over the likes of chairs, desks and beds in hotel bedrooms or abandoned warehouses.

I really like watching how her body changes across each picture, it´s really touching as it´s something every grown woman can relate to. As no matter how much childbearing or the stresses of work and home life can take it´s toll on you physically, we should always embrace our natural bodies no matter the shape. This itself is so positive and uplifting, and exactly what we need in a world that body shames too easily.
