Buenos Dias Mexico!
I don’t know where to begin explaining what a mind-blowing trip I’ve just returned home from. Splitting my time between Mexico and LA (which I’ll tell you all about in a separate post) I’ve got the travel bug back, and it was all thanks to the fantastic people I met and the overwhelming recognition for my work garnered from people thousands of miles away. I had no idea so many people in such far-flung places knew my work!
I first headed over to the Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara Film Festival. I’d been invited by the organisers and to my greatest honor I was awarded the Maguey Over The Rainbow award for my work as a Director.
I can’t tell you what a magical experience it was to walk down the red carpet and hear people saying my name. Not because I want to be some massive celebrity (although it did feel pretty cool!) but simply from the surprise. I really had no idea people would know me in Mexico! But you do, and that filled my soul with joy.
I was lucky enough to be traveling with my husband and the CEO of Erika Lust Films, Pablo Dobner (who took all of the amazing pictures in the gallery above!). Leaving our kids behind in Barcelona (weep!) we went on a working-holiday that I had been worried about, with all the traveling and long hours, but actually turned out to be incredible amounts of fun. We found amazing Vegan restaurants and I admit, I tasted a little Patrón because, well, when in Mexico!
I was then invited to a panel discussion at FICG and we had an amazing turnout from the crowd! Really insightful, fascinating questions and a great number of people who knew my work. I was so flattered to be there and to have been invited, and I hope if you were in the audience you enjoyed hearing me chat about ethical porn and XConfessions!
Witness the amazing crowd below
In between the festival and meeting erotic artists, I found a few hours to do some real exploring! I honestly can’t wait to go back to Mexico, I think it’s one of my favourite countries! And keep an eye out for me in the future in other places – I’m planning to visit Tokyo, New York and London and then Buenos Aires in early 2019! And thank you once again FICG!
